Let Promotional Pens Do the Selling for You

Promotional pens are the perfect giveaway that can get left behind and continue doing sterling work for your business.

Nicholson Bake once was overhead to say - Rarely do pens go dry in restaurants. And, you ask – "What does that have to do with promotional pens"?  The fact of the matter is that it has a lot to do with promotional pens because one of the most often "left behind" items is a pen.  Pens are most often left in those places where they have been used to write a check or sign a credit car

Restaurants are prime collectors of pens and so they are also sharing your promotional pens with customers who do not have one with them.  The customer who has a borrowed pen is very likely to accidentally put that borrowed pen back in their pocket or purse and voila'" - your promotional pen is marketing your business for you again.

Now, if pens are the most forgotten, lost or left behind items, almost in the world, it stands to reason that they are also maybe one of the most often found items in the world too.  If you have your name and business info on a promotional pen, your pen may travel around the world just by being left somewhere and then being found again.

There have been experiments about how far a message in a bottle will really travel and how many people will have found it during its travels and set it back on course.  This would be an interesting experiment to do with a promotional pen, just to verify that when someone leaves a pen somewhere it is more than likely going to be picked up and used by its new owner –the finder.

A logical conclusion to make from this example is that the better the quality of the promotional pen, the longer it will last.  The longer it lasts, the more free advertising you will get from it, no matter who the current owner happens to be.  So from this conclusion, you might decide the next time you use promotional pens as a giveaway item, to consider buying an "extended life policy" on it, so to speak by increasing their quality.

One of the difficult things about buying quality promotional pens is that it is hard to tell from a picture or description in a catalogue or on the internet exactly what you can expect in terms of quality.  It is sad to say but, cost really doesn't tell you about quality in all circumstances.  What you can do though, to up the quality of your promotional pens prior to buying them, is to ask the promotional item company to send you a preview sample.  Many companies provide this preview service and it is wise to take them up on it when buying promotional items.

If you think you are going to ask to preview the promotional pens you think you want to buy, give yourself a little more time in your planning.  This is especially so if you have a deadline for the pens such as a special promotion or sale etc. Mailing the pens takes time as well as your preview of them is also a little time consuming.

If you don't like the promotional pens when they arrive on preview, you have to spend more time researching pens, previewing them and making the purchase. If you have a deadline you are working toward, it is good plan to start selecting ad previewing pens about two months before the event.  If there is no deadline, you can take your time in selecting.
